「汝等比丘。若欲脫諸苦惱。當觀知足。」
"Oh bhikshus, if you wish to be free from all suffering and distress, you must contemplate and practice contentment."
「知足之法。即是富樂安穩之處。」
"The principle of contentment is indeed the dwelling place of wealth, joy, and peace."
「知足之人。雖臥地上。猶為安樂。」
"A contented person, even if lying on the ground, still feels at peace."
「不知足者。雖處天堂。亦不稱意。」
"One who is discontent, even if residing in heaven, will not find satisfaction."
「不知足者。雖富而貧。」
"The discontented, though wealthy, are truly poor."
「知足之人。雖貧而富。」
"The contented, though poor, are truly wealthy."
「不知足者。常為五欲所牽。為知足者之所憐愍。是名知足。」
"The discontented are constantly swayed by the five desires, and are even pitied by those who are content. This, is the true meaning of contentment."
